Read-a-Thon Fundraiser (May 2 - 18)

Read, read, read! Your student will be coming home with information today about the Read-a-Thon fundraiser which goes through May 18. The two classes with the most books read/money raised during this time period will win a special party! Let's go read some books and support the school! Please consider making a Read-a-Thon donation to help the PTSA continue to support the school and all students.

Science Fair this Week and Volunteers Needed

Come one, come all for science! The all-school Science Fair is this Thursday, May 5 (5-7pm). Come and learn what our 160+ student scientists have been up to! Is your student participating with a project? Review instructions and important dates here. We also need a few volunteers to help set up and clean up after the event. If you can volunteer, kindly sign up here. Please email us with any questions.

Invitation to the School Play and Tickets Information

Our 4th and 5th grade thespians have been hard at work preparing "Peter Pan in Neverland," a classic retelling of the adventure story with Studio East. The play will be presented on Friday, May 20th (7pm) and then again on Saturday, May 21st (2pm) in the Lakeview gym. You are invited to the show! Please check back to the PTSA website which will be updated soon with more information about tickets.

Spring Enrichment Classes

Our school's spring enrichment classes are off to a great start! Classes are happening both in person and online before and after school. Great news - there may be some slots available if your student is still interested to join! (Note: K-2 Musical class is full). Please check out the enrichment classes page for the list of classes and scholarships information. Please contact the PTSA Enrichment Team for more information and registration availability.

School Snacks and Donations Requested

A reminder to remember to send your student(s) with a daily healthy snack to eat. We are running low on emergency snacks in case students forget and we would appreciate donations to refill the supply. You can drop off healthy snacks donations at the Science Fair this week or at the school front desk during school hours. Thank you for stepping up and meeting this important need!

May 9 -13 is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

May 9 - 13 is our week to show our amazing teachers and staff how much we appreciate them! The PTSA Appreciation Team is preparing something special each day of the week to show our community love.

On Friday 5/13, THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! Your room parent will be in touch with you to organize class appreciation for your teacher! You are also encouraged to do anything on your own as well to shower our teachers and staff with extra care and appreciation! Notes of thanks, pictures, and words of encouragement are especially appreciated!

If you want to help out in additional ways or volunteer for set up, please contact us for more information.

Thank you for your support of the PTSA - your support helps make this week possible!

Joint Film Screening with Kirkland Middle, Peter Kirk, and Lakeview PTSAs

We are delighted to be co-sponsoring this family education film screening of Race to Be Human, a film which addresses the impact of racism on mental health through the lens of students, experts, and educators.

There are two ways to watch:

In-Person Screening and Guided Facilitated Discussion is scheduled on Thursday. May 19, 7 - 8:30pm at Kirkland Middle School. Families from all three schools are welcome to join. No RSVP is required, you can just show up.

Virtual Screening is scheduled between May 15 - May 22. Free to sign up. RSVP tickets are required and the film link will be sent the morning of May 15 to your email to watch during the viewing window.

4th and 5th grade students are especially encouraged to watch with their families in person on May 19 as a way also to see Kirkland Middle School.

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May marks a time nationwide to celebrate and acknowledge the culture, heritage, and history of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. In connection with our Read-a-Thon, we encourage everyone to read a new-to-you children's book celebrating Asian American heritage and Pacific Islander heritage from the book lists of our local libraries.

Looking Ahead
New Spiritwear and Gear Coming Soon

Be on the lookout for information about new Lakeview spiritwear and gear featuring the new Lakeview logo.

Hooray for Field Trips

Our 3rd and 4th grade students will be going on class field trips in May and June! It is awesome to see field trips slowly return to our school days. Please be on the lookout for information from your student's teacher and field trip permission forms.

"It's Almost Summer!" All-School Social and Chalk Art Walk, Invite New Lakeview Families

Save the date for the evening of Thursday, June 9! We'll be having an all school "it's almost summer!" all-school social and chalk art evening of community fun and friendship. If you know new Lakeview families joining us in the fall (such as new kindergarten families), please spread the word as they are warmly invited!

5th Grade Celebration Ceremony and Pool Party

We are sad to see our 5th graders end their time at Lakeview, but we know they are ready for the move up to middle school. 5th graders will have a celebration ceremony on Thursday, June 16 (9:30-10:30am) in the Lakeview gym and family/friends are invited to attend. Following the ceremony, 5th grade students, teachers and family chaperons will walk to Peter Kirk Park for a picnic lunch and pool party from 12-3pm. They will return by 3:40pm for school dismissal (there will be no dismissals allowed from the pool location). Questions or interest to volunteer? Please contact fifth grade parents, Andrea and Jessica. Congratulations 5th graders and families on this milestone!

The Egg Drop Returns!

Can you create and engineer a contraption that will protect an egg from a 60-foot drop? The Kirkland Fire Department will be here with their ladder truck (as long as they don’t receive an emergency call!) to see whose egg will survive the drop! Lakeview's annual Egg Drop event will be happening again this year during school hours the week of June 13th, the last week of school.

Save the Date! Summer Gatherings on July 28 & August 25
