The Reflections Program
The Reflections program is a national PTA program that is over 50 years old. It gives students an opportunity to create an original piece of art relating to a different theme each year.
This year’s theme “What My Culture Means to Me” invites students to reflect on their identity, heritage, traditions, and the communities that shape who they are. It’s a perfect fit for Lakeview’s wonderfully diverse student body.
💬 Why Participate?
Reflections helps students:
- Express themselves creatively
- Build confidence
- Explore identity and culture
- Develop artistic literacy
- Gain recognition at school, council, state, and national levels
🖼️ Arts Categories
Students may enter one original piece of art into each of the following art categories:
- Literature – works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, short stories and lyrics.
- Music Composition – original musical composition, with or without words.
- Photography: color or black and white, included techniques: photogram, negative sandwich, and multiple exposure.
- Visual Arts: drawing, painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor & t-shirt paints, computer generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework & leather tooling.
- Film/Video: original works, with or without sound, of animation, narrative, documentary, experimental or music video/film.
- Choreography/Dance: originally choreographed dance composition.

📥 How to Submit Your Artwork
Lakeview PTSA will accept digital submissions for all categories.
- Save and download fillable Student Entry Form. Please DO NOT edit the form before downloading.
- Complete the entry form, save to your computer and rename the file with your student’s first initial and last name.
- Create a new folder for your student on the Google Drive.
- Upload entry form and file containing their art to their folder in the Google Drive.

📅 Key Dates
- The deadline for submitting works of art is Wednesday November 4th at 11:59 pm.
- Advancing entries move from: Lakeview PTSA → Council → Washington State PTA → National PTA. Outstanding Interpretation winners at State advance to National. Dates TBD.
