Lakeview PTSA is composed of a dedicated group of board members, each serving in different positions. PTSA members play a vital role in supporting education and a strong school community.

 

Here are the key responsibilities of the board members:

 

EXECUTIVE POSITIONS 

 

PTSA President: Responsible for the management of the PTSA.

  • Lead the PTSA toward the specific goals approved by the membership.
  • Set the PTSA agenda of events and special programs.
  • Set the agenda for all PTSA meetings Plan and lead the PTSA board meeting.
  • Plan and lead General Membership meetings.
  • Delegates responsibility communicates with officers and chairs and maintains visibility to the membership.
  • Serves as a signer of the organization’s bank accounts.
  • Sign all agreements with third-party vendors and outside contractors.
  • Attend monthly LWSD Meetings
  • Has regular meetings with the school principal.
  • Monitor and provide assistance to various committees.
  • Approve the annual PTSA budget.
  • Promotes a positive image of PTSA within the community.

 

Vice President: Supports the President in leading the PTSA toward specific goals chosen by its members.

  • In the absence or inability of the President to serve, the VP performs the duties of the President.
  • Advises and guides PTSA event chairs in scheduling and planning various events throughout the school year.
  • collaborates with other board members to ensure successful execution of PTSA initiatives.
  • Helps maintain continuity in PTSA operations.
  • Provides leadership when called upon.
  • Works closely to achieve PTSA objectives.

 

Secretary: Keeping records of the PTSA functions

  • Record meeting minutes of each board and general membership meetings.
  • Take attendance of each of the meetings and determine if there's quorum.
  • Prepare the minutes for approval in the following meeting.
  • Helps plan meeting agendas with the president.

 

Treasurer: Financial responsible for the PTSA operations

  • Handle the financial transactions, including collecting dues, donations, and other income.
  • Maintains accurate financial records, including receipts, invoices, and bank statements.
  • Create and manage the PTSA budget, ensuring that expenses align with the organization’s goals and priorities.
  • Provides regular financial reports to the PTSA board and general membership.
  • Present the budget for approval at PTSA meetings.
  • Collaborate with other board members to create a realistic and balanced budget.
  • Ensures compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and PTSA bylaws.
  • Work closely with the president, secretary, and other officers to maintain good standing.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.

 

BOARD CHAIRS 

 

Membership Chair: Promotes and manages membership within the PTSA.

  • Critical role at the beginning of the school year when most PTSA members join.
  • Collaborate with the membership committee to set realistic membership goals for the year.
  • Develop a budget to support membership-related projects and events.

  • Include membership information in back-to-school packets or registration materials.
  • Encourage parents, teachers, and staff to join the PTSA.

Communications Chair: Responsible for managing all communication channels to keep PTSA members, parents, teachers, and the school community informed.

  • Ensure consistent and timely communication of PTSA information.
  • Maintain existing communication tools or implement new ones.
  • Maintain the PTSA website with up-to-date information.
  • Post announcements, event details, meeting minutes, and other relevant content.
  • Collaborate with other board members to ensure accurate and engaging content.
  • Compile community and school news for the PTSA newsletter.
  • Prepare and send the newsletter via email. 
  • Highlight upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and PTSA achievements.
  • Manage PTSA social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram).
  • Regularly post updates, event reminders, and engaging content.
  • Respond to inquiries and engage with followers.
  • Work closely with event chairs to promote PTSA-sponsored events.
  • Create eye-catching graphics or flyers for events.
  • Coordinate with other PTSA board members to align communication efforts.
  • Solicit feedback and suggestions from parents, teachers, and students.
  • Promote a positive image of PTSA within the school and community.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.

 

Fundraising Chair: Coordinate fundraising efforts to meet revenue goals for the school year.

  • Coordinate the Annual main Fundraising event for the PTSA, and any other fundraising event.
  • Set the Fundraising goals and objectives of the year.
  • Look for sponsors or local businesses willing to help the fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with the PTSA board to plan key fundraising events.
  • Search for new fundraising opportunities.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.

 

Director of School Services: Responsible to organize and plan all the school PTSA events during the school year.

  • Organize, and recruit volunteers and specific events coordinators.
  • Collaborate with other committee members and volunteers to ensure successful event execution.
  • Manage logistics, including venue reservation, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Oversee event budgets and expenses.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities. 

 

Advocacy Chair: Brings information and issues relating to children and education to the attention of the General Membership.

  • Advises on how Members can make their opinion heard
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities. 

 

Nutrition Co-Chairs (2): Responsible for coordinating our food security programs.

  • Organize, and recruit volunteers to help with pantry packs.
  • Manage inventory and logistics of food available for in-school and take-home programs.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.  
SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

 

STEM Director: Promoting STEM education withing the school community.

  • Promote STEM-related events, programs, and initiatives within the school.
  • Encourage participation in STEM-related activities.
  • Organize STEM-related events, workshops, and guest speaker sessions.
  • Coordinate STEM fairs, science nights, coding clubs, MATH competitions, and other relevant activities.
  • Research and identify STEM resources, grants, and funding opportunities.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.

 
Art Director: Coordinate and oversee art-related activities within the PTSA.
 
  • Collaborate with teachers, students, and volunteers to promote art education. 
  • Organize art workshops and exhibitions.
  • Encourage student participation in art programs and projects.
  • Organize the art docent program.
  • Organize the annual Lakeview Art Walk.
  • Maintain art supplies and resources.
  • Foster creativity and appreciation for the arts within the school community. 
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.

 

Enrichment Director: Coordinate and oversee enrichment programs within the PTSA.
  • Research and identify potential vendors or organizations that can offer engaging before and after school programs.
  • Consider a variety of activities, such as arts, sports, STEM, or language programs.
  • Set up a calendar for enrichment programs throughout the school year.
  • Evaluate available spaces within the school premises.
  • Recruit and organize parent chaperones to assist during enrichment programs.
  • Provide clear guidelines and expectations for chaperones.
  • Address any issues promptly to ensure smooth operation.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.

 

Room Parent Liaison: Serve as a communication bridge between parents and the PTSA.

  • Facilitates communication between Class Room Parents and PTSA.
  • Assist parents in PTSA activities.
  • Gives feedback to the PTSA from classroom parents.
  • Support follow-up on core parent issues identified within the school community.
  • Attend bi-monthly board meetings and actively participate in PTSA activities.

 

Yearbook Team: Facilitates creation of the school Yearbook

  • Photo collection: regularly collecting photos from classroom photographers to put into the yearbook.
  • Editing: selecting photos collected over the school year and laying out for yearbook pages.
