WINTER ENRICHMENT BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES

 

We are excited to announce the classes for our 2026 Winter Enrichment/Before and After-School Programs! Registration:

  • Priority registration for PTSA Members will open on Tuesday, December 16th at noon via email
  • Registration opens to all, beginning on Thursday, December 18th at noon on the PTSA website.

Classes will begin on January 15th, 2026, and run through April 3rd, 2026, unless otherwise noted.

Parent Chaperones needed:

Parent chaperones make our classes successful by helping with attendance and helping out our kids. All classes must have a chaperone to run. Volunteer to be a chaperone for the entire season and your child can attend the class for free!

Let's Play Street Hockey- By McVander Hockey

Please join us for a SUPER-FUN CO-ED STREET HOCKEY experience! No ice, no skating, and no experience required. McVander Hockey provides a fun and safe space when students can enjoy the great game of hockey. Every participant goes home with a t-shirt AND a street hockey stick & ball to keep.

 

 

 

Chinese Language - Beyond the Bell

Children will learn Chinese through interactive play, music, storytelling, and engaging activities. Students practice speaking and listening skills while discovering Chinese culture in a fun and supportive environment.

Beginners through advanced players are welcome at Chess Club! Make new friends while learning chess skills and practicing together each week. Chess has been proven to improve focus and critical thinking! In our classroom, chess is also a fun game where we build confidence, socialize, and practice sportsmanship.
We will adjust each Chess Club to the students who attend to make sure all players learn! Beginners will learn chess fundamentals from castling to checkmate. We will learn tactics and checkmate patterns to build confidence finishing a game. We may even learn advanced tournament skills while learning from famous chess games!

Lego: Foundational Engineering - Snapology

Perfect for curious kids who love to build—or take things apart! In this hands-on engineering program, students explore how machines work by designing and testing their own creations using gears, pulleys, levers, and more. What they learn:
Engineering & Physics: Understand mechanical movement and simple machines through real-world builds.
Structural Design & Problem Solving: Learn how to build strong, functional models and troubleshoot design challenges.
Teamwork & Collaboration: Work in small groups to plan, share, and create together.
Creative & Critical Thinking: Experiment with new ideas and explore how different parts affect motion

Discover how AI works by learning key AI and ML concepts such as neural networks, computer vision, and image recognition. You'll learn how to use modern AI tools effectively, like DALL-E, for tasks like generating images. You’ll create your own AI models that will be used to build Scratch projects, including video filters and touchless games.

In this exciting new class, young singers will team up to save the world—through music! Students will explore their voices, learn fun songs from the hit movie K-Pop Demon Hunters, and practice rhythm, expression, and confidence on stage. Together, they’ll sing, move, and create a mini performance for the last day of class!

 


  

Steamoji - Journey to Master Maker

With Steamoji’s Journey to Master Maker Intro program, students are exposed to foundational subjects in fabrication, physical computing, engineering and digital arts using latest technologies and hands-on projects that involves 3D Pen Design,Robotics, engineering & Coding. Kickstart your child's confidence as they iterate and improve their designs and can take home their final invention.

This Winter kids dive into real materials—paint, clay, collage, printmaking, and textiles—while creating geometric animals, clay trolls, spooky charcoal houses, Rainier yarn paintings, comics, kinetic silhouettes, fauvist cityscapes, and bold portrait prints. We learn Northwest design principles respectfully (kids create original personal symbols) and focus on process over perfection, so artists build confidence and joy.

 


 

Minecraft Modding - Coding With Kids

Calling all Minecrafters! Join us in this course to build Minecraft mods (modifications) while learning coding.  With a drag-and-drop coding environment, students learn coding concepts, such as Variables, Conditionals, and Loops. They apply the concepts to personalize the game with custom world maps, new items, chat commands, and mini games! It will be an exciting journey of coding and creativity!

Join us for an 11-week creative journey celebrating the magic of winter! Young artists in kindergarten through fifth grade will explore painting, drawing, clay, and crafting as they create unique winter-inspired mixed media art. Throughout the session, students will combine a variety of materials and techniques to bring their seasonal creations to life in fun and imaginative ways.

 


  

Tweetering Architecture: A Garden for Birds - PlayArchy Lab

In this creative and hands-on architecture class, students will design a "Twittering Garden"—a bird-friendly habitat that blends nature with human-made spaces. Students will design habitats for birds—such as bird feeders, towers, baths, and islands—where birds can tweet, nest, and thrive in nature. Students will also design playful spaces for children—inviting activities like hide-and-seek and drawing in the sand. As a final project, students will design bird theatres set within waterscapes—complete with walkways and seating areas around water elements, where people can relax, watch the birds, and enjoy their chirping symphony. Through these exercises, students engage in hands-on building while being introduced to the fundamentals of architectural design—exploring the elements of point, line, plane, and volume. This studio also nurtures empathy in young learners as they explore the needs and emotions of both humans and non-humans.

B&B Training Solutions delivers a fun, safe multi-sport class featuring Soccer and Flag Football. Players build fundamentals through game-based drills—soccer dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, and spacing, plus flag football route running, handoffs, throwing/catching, flag-pulling, and agility. We emphasize teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship, giving each child a positive on-field experience while fostering a lifelong love of active, healthy living. All skill levels are welcome. Our B&B coaches bring years of success across multiple levels of play, including college and professional (Euro League)

Get ready to take an amazing adventure into the exciting world of magic! Learn how to move objects with your mind, make a monkey appear and operate a time machine, just to name a few!

Join the award-winning Seattle Magic Academy as we present our "Discover Magic" blue wand magic course (the 4 different wand courses offered can be taken in any order, and all the magic in each course is different). Rule number one for the classes is "Have Fun!"

In addition to learning amazing magic, we also emphasize life skills (a true magician is Respectful, Prepared, Enthusiastic, Confident, Humble, Creative, Authentic and Giving), which will help your child throughout their life! The Seattle Magic Academy is led by Xakary the Magician, who received all "YES" votes when he appeared on America's Got Talent, In addition, Xakary and his instructors have taught thousands of students magic! Check out our amazing feedback!

All materials are provided, including custom magic tricks, "secret" file folders, access to a secret online video vault where you child can review all the magic taught in the course, graduation certificate and blue magic wand, plus more surprises!

Class size is limited, in order to ensure a great experience for every student. The real magic happens AFTER the class when the kids go home and practice and perform their tricks!

 


 

Debate - Climb the Mountain Speech & Debate

 

When: Thursdays from 4:05pm to 5:35 PM 

Open to grades: 3-5

Dates: Jan 15th - March 5th. 6 classes.

Elementary students debate at a challenging but supportive level. They research topics, take both sides on the topic, present cases, refute opposing cases, defend their cases and persuasively weigh the arguments in the debate to persuade their judges. Topics have included school cell phone use, ending plastic bags, video game effects on kids, and space exploration. Recognitions for each student’s unique skills as well as top teams and speakers finish the program. Students are also encouraged to participate in the Seattle University tournament shortly after the end of the class, one where Climbers have placed 1st team and 1st speaker (extra fee).
